I Cangianti

Matteo Stoppini of I Cangianti by Stoppini

I Cangianti by Stoppini is a small, family-run project where two brothers revive their grandparents' winemaking and stake their reputation on it, literally putting their faces on the labels under the motto ci mettiamo la faccia, we put our face on it.

Backstory

The estate was founded by brothers Matteo and Luca Stoppini, lovers of the outdoors united by a taste for natural wine. They reopened the cellar by reviving traditions handed down from their grandparents and pairing them with modern techniques. The whole family is involved in the work.

The Region

The project straddles two central Italian regions. The vines lie in Tuscany, near Montepulciano in the province of Siena, and on the gentle hills of Corciano in Umbria. The cellar is in Umbria, set up in a space that once served as a carpentry workshop.

Vineyards & Farming

The Stoppini brothers make wines they describe as 100 percent natural, with no added chemical substances, an approach rooted in the family traditions they inherited.

The Wines

The lineup includes Ambiguo, a red, and Confine, a white made in both a fresh and a skin-macerated version, each carrying one of the hand-painted portrait labels that give the estate its identity.
