Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Returns Policy

Producer profile

Wonderwerk Co.

Wonderwerk was founded in 2017 by Issamu Kamide and Andrew Lardy, two lifelong friends who grew up together in Virginia before making their way to California. The label takes its name from Wonderwerk Cave in South Africa, a site believed to hold some of the earliest evidence of human cooking, a reference the founders use to frame their interest in fermentation as something fundamental to human experience rather than a luxury pursuit.

Lardy came to winemaking through an unconventional route. He initially pursued graduate studies in neuropsychology before pivoting to enology, enrolling in the Fresno State Enology program and gaining experience across several Central Coast wineries. He now also serves as Head Distiller at Spirit Guild Distillery in downtown Los Angeles. Kamide studied brand management and worked in consumer packaged goods and beverage marketing in Los Angeles, including roles with major food and health brands, before focusing full time on Wonderwerk. He holds a WSET Level 3 qualification.

Wonderwerk produces wine at the Atelier des Savants Fous custom crush facility in Gilroy, a nine-winery shared production space that allows the team to work without the overhead of a standalone winery. Fruit is sourced from a network of responsibly farmed vineyards across California, selected on the basis of farming practice and flavor character.

The label's output is organized into three lines. The BIG wines are one-liter format bottles: BIG Orange, BIG Juicy, and BIG Crispy. The Club Music series covers more experimental and collaborative bottlings. The Italifornia range, which includes Riviera alongside Marinara and Al Fresco, is built around Italian grape varieties and Italian-inspired profiles adapted to California growing conditions. Across all three lines, Kamide and Lardy apply the same consistent approach: native yeast fermentation, no fining, no filtration, and minimal additions from vineyard to bottle.

Wine region

California, United States

Wonderwerk sources grapes from responsibly farmed vineyards across California and produces its wines at the Atelier des Savants Fous custom crush facility in Gilroy, in the southern Santa Clara Valley. Gilroy sits at the northern end of the Pajaro River watershed, where the valley transitions toward Monterey County and the broader Central Coast wine country. The facility is a shared production space housing multiple small wineries, giving producers like Wonderwerk access to temperature-controlled infrastructure without the capital investment of a dedicated winery.

California rosé production has expanded rapidly over the past decade, driven largely by consumer demand for lighter, drier styles that move away from the sweet pink wines that dominated the market in earlier decades. Rosé is now made from an exceptionally wide range of varieties across the state, from Pinot Noir and Grenache in the cooler coastal AVAs of Sonoma and Santa Barbara to Zinfandel, Sangiovese, and Montepulciano in warmer inland regions like Contra Costa County and the Sierra Foothills.

The diversity of California's vineyard landscape allows blenders and négociant producers to source across climate zones and soil types within a single state, assembling wines that reflect multiple terroir influences rather than a single site. For the Wonderwerk Riviera, that flexibility is part of the design: the Italifornia range as a whole draws on Italian-heritage varieties and Italian-inspired blends grown in California conditions, reframing familiar Italian wine categories through a California lens.

California's Mediterranean-influenced climate, characterized by warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters, provides consistent conditions for growing grapes with ripe fruit character while retaining the freshness needed for lighter styles like rosé. Coastal influence from the Pacific is critical in keeping temperatures in check across many of the state's premier growing areas, particularly in AVAs open to marine air from the San Francisco Bay or the Pacific Ocean directly.
