Tasting notes

Pignoletto is one of Italy's most underappreciated white grapes, and Susanna Diamanti's ancestral-method version shows exactly why it deserves more attention: white peach and wildflower aromatics backed by a bracing bitter almond finish and genuine saline minerality. At 11% ABV with no added sulfites, it is one of the most food-friendly and sessionable sparkling wines in our portfolio.

Oro di Diamanti Vines Sum Pét-Nat is a 100% Pignoletto sparkling wine made by Susanna Diamanti at her certified organic estate in Zola Predosa, in the Bologna hills of Emilia-Romagna. The grapes grow on north-west facing vineyards with clayey and silty-calcareous soils, giving the wine its characteristic minerality and bright acidity.

The wine is made using Metodo Ancestrale (ancestral method): fermentation begins in tank and is completed in bottle using only indigenous yeasts, trapping natural CO2 to create gentle bubbles. It is unfiltered, unfined, and bottled with no added sulfites. The result is a cloudy, lively pét-nat with fine, persistent bubbles.

On the nose and palate, expect yeasty bread notes, white peach, wildflowers, bitter almond, and a faint salty minerality. Acidity is lively and the finish is dry with the characteristic slightly bitter snap Pignoletto is known for. At 11% ABV, it is genuinely light and refreshing.

Vines Sum is best consumed young and cold. A light chill (45-48°F) brings out the floral aromatics and keeps the bubbles lively.

Serve with fried seafood, oysters on the half shell, or clams in white wine — the wine's saline edge and crisp acidity cut through brine and fat cleanly. It also works well with cured meats such as mortadella or prosciutto di Parma, classic pairings from its home region. A wedge of young pecorino or fresh chèvre is equally well-suited.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Oro di Diamanti

Oro di Diamanti is a small family farm located in Zola Predosa, a commune in the Bologna hills within the Colli Bolognesi DOC zone. Susanna Diamanti founded the estate in 2003 after purchasing a 3.5-hectare plot of abandoned land, where she discovered existing Pignoletto and Barbera vineyards. The operation is run by Susanna and Riccardo Diamanti and produces wine, honey, extra virgin olive oil, and artisanal liqueurs alongside its wine range.

The estate holds certified organic status and applies biodynamic practices in the vineyard, including green manure, manual shoot management, and soil care without synthetic chemicals or herbicides. The vineyards face north-west and grow on clayey and silty-calcareous soils. Harvesting is done entirely by hand in small crates to preserve berry integrity.

In the cellar, Oro di Diamanti favors spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, gentle pressing, and extended lees aging. The Vines Sum Pét-Nat is made using Metodo Ancestrale: fermentation begins in tank and finishes in bottle. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration and with no added sulfites.

Wine region

Emilia-Romagna, Italy

Emilia-Romagna stretches from the Po River plains in the north to the Apennine Mountains in the south, with viticulture concentrated in the foothills. The Colli Bolognesi zone, situated in the hills immediately surrounding Bologna, benefits from a climate shaped by both continental and Mediterranean influences: warm summers, cool evenings that preserve grape acidity, and well-drained hillside soils of clay, limestone, marl, and silty-calcareous deposits. Vineyards in the DOCG zone sit at roughly 200 to 210 meters above sea level.

The Colli Bolognesi Pignoletto DOCG, established in 2010 and the second DOCG awarded in Emilia-Romagna after Albana di Romagna, covers approximately 182 hectares across the provinces of Bologna and Modena. Pignoletto — genetically identical to Grechetto Gentile — is the zone's sole white grape and has been cultivated in these hills since at least the 16th century, with possible references as far back as Roman times. The grape produces dry, aromatic wines with notes of white flowers, citrus, pear, and a distinctive bitter almond finish. It is produced as still (fermo), lightly sparkling (frizzante), and fully sparkling (spumante) styles.
