Tasting notes

Sssupermoon delivers a flavor profile you rarely encounter — Centesimino's combination of violet florality, anise, and white pepper crunch is genuinely distinctive and hard to find outside Ravenna. Fall and Recover rounds out the bundle with a darker, earthier Mendocino personality built from three organic grapes that add up to something more than the sum of their parts.

  • Style: Bundle of 2 dry, chillable reds; one Italian, one Californian; both organic and low-intervention
  • Grapes & Terroir: Centesimino (Ravenna IGT, sand/gravel soils, Adriatic influence); Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignan (Mendocino, certified organic)
  • Winemaking: Both wines: indigenous yeast fermentation, unfined, unfiltered, minimal or no added sulfur
  • Serving: Serve both at 55-60F; Sssupermoon benefits from a light chill; Fall and Recover can open at cool room temp
  • Pairing: Red sauce pasta, mushrooms, grilled meats, spicy food, aged cheese
  • Similar To: For fans of Gamay and Barbera who want something light, dry, and genuinely food-friendly

This bundle pairs two low-intervention reds built for casual drinking. The Vinovore Sssupermoon Red NV is 100% Centesimino — a rare indigenous grape from the Ravenna province of Emilia-Romagna, Italy, grown on sand and gravel soils near Fusignano. Certified organic and vegan, it is spontaneously fermented and aged 6 months in stainless steel, then bottled unfiltered. The aromatics are lifted and floral: red rose petals, wild violet, orange blossom, and anise. On the palate it is dry and crunchy — pomegranate, cherry-herb, white pepper — with a long, vibrant finish. Serve well-chilled.

The Unturned Stone Fall and Recover is a red blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Carignan sourced from certified organic vineyards in Mendocino County, California. Fermented with indigenous yeasts, unfined and unfiltered, with only minimal sulfur added as needed. Medium-bodied, with dark berry fruit, subtle spice, and earthy undertones. At 13% ABV, it sits squarely in the easy-drinking range.

Centesimino (also sold as Savignon Rosso) is one of the rarest grapes in Italy — cultivated by only a handful of producers around Faenza, all descended from a single pre-phylloxera mother vine rediscovered in the 1940s by horticulturist Pietro Pianori. The Vinovore label is a collaboration between Los Angeles wine shop owner Coly Den Haan and the Randi family winery in Bagnacavallo, Emilia-Romagna — a mother-and-son operation run by Giovanna and Massimo Randi focused on indigenous varieties and organic farming. Unturned Stone was founded in 2010 by Erin Mitchell and Randy Czech in Windsor, California, sourcing exclusively from organically farmed vineyards within 70 miles of their winery.

Sssupermoon works well with red sauce pasta, mushroom dishes, and spicy food — its crunch and acidity cut through richness. Fall and Recover handles grilled meats, braised beans, and aged cheeses without demanding much from the diner. Both are flexible enough for a spread.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Unturned & Vinovore

Vinovore is a Los Angeles-based natural wine shop founded by Coly Den Haan, focused on wines made by women. The Vinovore label is a collaboration with Randi Winery, a family estate in Bagnacavallo near Ravenna, run by Giovanna and Massimo Randi. The Randi family has focused on indigenous Emilia-Romagna varieties — particularly Centesimino and Famoso — and practices certified organic farming.

The Vinovore wines follow an ancestral, minimal-intervention approach: spontaneous fermentation with indigenous grapes, unfiltered, low-sulfite, and produced in limited quantities. The Sssupermoon is made from a 1-hectare vineyard on sand, gravel, and partial clay soils in the Fusignano commune of Emilia-Romagna, with Adriatic Sea influence roughly 15 miles to the east.

Unturned Stone was founded in 2010 by Erin Mitchell and Randy Czech after they were offered fruit from Waterhorse Ridge in Fort Ross-Seaview, Sonoma. They released their first wines commercially in 2015. The operation is based in Windsor, California, and sources exclusively from certified organic vineyards within 70 miles of the winery in Sonoma and Mendocino Counties. All fermentations use indigenous yeasts; additions are limited to minimal sulfur as needed; wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Production runs approximately 1,000 cases per year across several vineyard-designate wines.

Wine region

Emilia-Romagna / Mendocino, Italy / United States

Ravenna IGT covers the coastal flatlands of the Emilia-Romagna region in northern Italy, roughly 15 miles west of the Adriatic Sea. Soils in the Fusignano and Bagnacavallo communes are predominantly sand and gravel with some clay, free-draining and low in organic matter. The Adriatic provides a cooling maritime influence that preserves acidity in warm vintages. The appellation is flexible by design, permitting 35 grape varieties, but its most distinctive contribution to Italian wine is the near-exclusive cultivation of two indigenous grapes: Centesimino and Uva Longanesi.

Mendocino County sits north of Sonoma on California's North Coast. The county encompasses several AVAs including Mendocino, Anderson Valley, Redwood Valley, and Mendocino Ridge. Anderson Valley benefits from coastal fog and cool temperatures that extend the growing season. Redwood Valley, further inland, is warmer but still moderated by elevation. Mendocino has one of the highest concentrations of certified organic vineyards in California. Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Carignan all have long histories in the county and perform particularly well in its diverse microclimates.
