Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Cantina Marilina

Cantina Marilina was established in 2001 by Angelo Paternò on a 60-hectare property near Pachino in the southeastern Sicilian province of Siracusa, on a hill formerly known as Poggio dei Fossi. Before founding the estate, Angelo spent 25 years as winemaker and technical director at two major Sicilian producers, Cantine Settesoli and Duca di Salaparuta. When he purchased this land, he described it as one of the finest viticultural sites he had seen in Sicily.

Angelo has since handed daily management to his daughters, Marilina and Federica Paternò, though he remains present in the cellar. The sisters have kept the estate fully organic since its founding and work with an approach influenced by Frank Cornelissen, the Belgian-born natural wine producer whose work on Mount Etna shaped a generation of Sicilian producers. Of the 60 hectares, 35 are planted with vines; the rest is dedicated to polyculture — olive trees, fruit trees, and mixed agriculture — to maintain soil health and ecosystem balance.

The winery centres its range on three indigenous Sicilian varieties: Nero d'Avola, Grecanico Dorato, and Moscato. Small amounts of international varieties including Merlot, Tannat, Viognier, and Chardonnay are also grown. In the cellar, large concrete tanks are used for both fermentation and aging across the range, chosen for their neutrality and their ability to preserve freshness and mineral character without adding wood flavour. No fining agents are used, no filtration is applied, and sulfur additions are kept to a minimum at bottling only — the same approach across the entire portfolio.

Wine region

Sicily, Italy

Val di Noto covers the southeastern corner of Sicily across the provinces of Siracusa, Ragusa, and Catania. It is one of the most sun-exposed areas on the island, recording more sunshine hours than almost anywhere else in Sicily, yet persistent winds off the Mediterranean and the Strait of Sicily moderate temperatures and reduce the risk of over-ripeness. This combination of intense light, reliable wind, and white calcareous limestone soils gives the wines of the zone a character that runs counter to the island's reputation for heavy, extracted reds: they tend toward structure, freshness, and mineral definition.

Nero d'Avola is the dominant red grape of this southeastern corner. Its name references the town of Avola on the southern coast of Siracusa province, and it has been cultivated here for centuries. Thick-skinned and small-berried, it is naturally adapted to drought conditions and produces wines with dark fruit, black pepper, tobacco, and a saline minerality rooted in the white limestone subsoil.

Val di Noto contains several appellations. The Eloro DOC covers reds and whites from the municipalities around Noto, Pachino, and Portopalo. The Noto DOC focuses on Moscato Bianco and Nero d'Avola from the same cluster of towns. The Val di Noto is surrounded by and overlaps with the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Noto, a baroque city rebuilt in golden limestone after the earthquake of 1693. The area around Pachino is also known internationally for its DOP cherry tomatoes, a product as closely linked to the local soils as the wine.

At a broader level, Sicilian natural wine production has accelerated since the early 2000s, with producers in the Val di Noto, on Mount Etna, and in the inland hills of Vittoria and Ragusa working with native varieties and concrete or clay vessels to express terroir rather than mask it.
