Tasting notes

The Orange delivers orange blossom, dried citrus peel, and preserved apricot with a textured grip from skin contact at just 11% ABV, making it one of the most accessible orange wines at this price. The Garnacha is bright ruby, light-bodied, and built around tart raspberry and cassis with white pepper on the finish — the kind of chillable red that works year-round.

This duo pairs Gulp Hablo's two best-selling one-liter bottles: the Orange, a skin-contact blend of 50% Verdejo and 50% Sauvignon Blanc, and the Garnacha, a 100% Grenache red. Both wines come from Bodegas Parra Jimenez, a Demeter biodynamic and Sohiscert organic certified estate near Las Mesas in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Winemaking is guided by Juan Antonio Ponce of Bodegas Ponce.

The Orange undergoes 5 to 7 days of skin maceration in 200-liter clay vessels and 4,000-liter used French oak vats with daily pumpovers, then is pressed and transferred to 3,000-liter foudres for 8 months of aging. The Garnacha is fully destemmed, fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, and aged approximately six months before bottling. Both wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal added sulfites.

The grapes come from two vineyard sites near the village of Las Mesas in Cuenca province. Entresendas sits in an ancient riverbed with alluvial soils, and Olla del Monte (locally called Cuesta Colora, meaning 'the colored slope') features chalky clay covered with heat-retaining pebbles. Vineyard elevations reach approximately 900 meters. The estate holds both Demeter biodynamic and European Vegetarian Union vegan certifications.

The Orange comes in at 11% ABV; the Garnacha at 13% ABV. Both are in one-liter bottles, dry, and made for immediate drinking.

The Orange pairs well with aged Manchego, spiced lamb dishes, roasted vegetables with harissa, and sushi. The Garnacha works alongside pizza margherita, jamon iberico, pisto manchego, and lightly spiced noodle dishes. Both wines are versatile enough to serve slightly chilled alongside a spread of charcuterie and olives.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Gulp Hablo

Bodegas Parra Jimenez was founded in 1993 by three brothers, Francisco, Javier, and Luis Parra, in Las Mesas, a small village in Cuenca province within Castilla-La Mancha. At a time when certified organic viticulture was rare in the region, the brothers committed from the outset to farming without synthetic pesticides or herbicides. By 1996 they were exporting their first certified organic wines. The estate now encompasses approximately 180 hectares (445 acres) across two primary vineyard sites, making it one of Europe's largest continuous certified organic and biodynamic vineyards.

The estate operates as a closed agricultural ecosystem: it raises La Mancha black sheep (a breed at risk of extinction) for Manchego cheese production, cultivates organic garlic, cereals, and legumes, and recycles grape pomace as animal feed. The vineyards hold both Demeter biodynamic certification and Sohiscert organic certification. Since 2017, Pablo Parra, Javier's son, has led winemaking at the estate.

The Gulp/Hablo line was developed as a collaboration between Bodegas Parra Jimenez and Juan Antonio Ponce of Bodegas Ponce, one of Spain's most respected natural winemakers. The label was launched by importer T. Edward Wines in 2017. The Orange wine was introduced in 2021 and sold out in under two months. All Gulp/Hablo wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts, bottled unfined and unfiltered, and produced with zero added sugar and minimal sulfites.

Wine region

Castilla la Mancha, Spain

Castilla-La Mancha occupies Spain's central plateau, the Meseta Central, at an average elevation of around 640 meters and rising to over 900 meters in some areas. The region contains nine Denominaciones de Origen including DO La Mancha, the largest single wine appellation in the world at over 190,000 hectares under vine. The climate is continental and extreme: summers reach 45 degrees Celsius, winters drop to -15 degrees Celsius, and annual rainfall averages just 300 to 400 millimeters. This aridity reduces fungal disease pressure significantly, making organic and biodynamic farming more practical here than in wetter wine regions. Diurnal temperature swings at elevation preserve acidity in grapes despite the summer heat.

Soils across the region are predominantly reddish-brown sandy clay, poor in organic matter and rich in lime and chalk. The Parra family's vineyards near Las Mesas in Cuenca province include alluvial riverbed soils at Entresendas and chalky clay with surface pebbles at Olla del Monte (Cuesta Colora). Key DOs within Castilla-La Mancha include La Mancha, Valdepeñas, Almansa, Manchuela, and Ucles. The region's traditional white grape is Airen, though Verdejo, Sauvignon Blanc, and Macabeo are widely planted. Red varieties include Garnacha, Tempranillo (locally called Cencibel), Monastrell, and Syrah.
