Tasting notes

This is one of the more honest multi-variety red blends coming out of the Pacific Northwest: Pinot Noir from Oregon's Willamette Valley keeps it fresh and lifted, while Yakima Valley Graciano, Nebbiolo, and Mourvedre add savory backbone and spice without tipping into heaviness. Whole-cluster fermentation on nearly all varieties gives the wine a peppery, herbal edge that keeps each sip interesting.

Bring It is Joe Swick's flagship red blend, sourced from organically farmed vineyards across two states: Oregon's Willamette Valley provides the Pinot Noir base, which contributes freshness and earthy cherry character, while fuller-bodied varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Graciano, Syrah, Nebbiolo, Mourvedre, Grenache, and Cabernet Franc come from higher-elevation sites in Washington's Yakima Valley, within the Columbia Valley AVA. The blend changes each vintage and is assembled from a barrel selection.

Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts and all grape varieties are fermented with stems included, except for the Cabernet Sauvignon. After fermentation, the wines age separately in used French oak barrels of 228 and 500 liter sizes for approximately 9 months before blending and bottling. A small dose of SO2 at bottling is the only addition made to this wine.

The goal with Bring It is a fuller-bodied red with enough fresh acidity to work across a range of foods and situations. The result is a medium-bodied, tart, and dry red that reflects Joe's preference for wines with acid and freshness rather than extraction and weight. Serve slightly chilled, around 58-62F.

The wine's tartness and savory character make it a strong match for charcuterie boards, roasted chicken with herbs, or pasta with tomato-based meat sauce. It holds up well against earthy dishes like mushroom risotto or lentil stew. Serve with a light chill for best results.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Swick Wines

Joe Swick is a Portland-born, 5th-generation Oregonian who entered the wine industry around 2001, working at a specialty organic food store in Portland before landing his first harvest cellar position at Owen Roe Winery in 2003. Over the following decade, he completed more than 15 harvests across Portugal, Italy, New Zealand, Tasmania, California, and France, spending time with producers including Julien Labet in Jura and Simon Busser in Cahors. He returned to Oregon in 2013 and founded Swick Wines, based in Newberg on the northern end of the Willamette Valley.

Swick sources grapes exclusively from organically or biodynamically farmed vineyards in the colder regions of Oregon and Washington State, with a particular focus on higher-elevation sites that produce fruit with natural acidity and lower sugars. He works across the Willamette Valley, Columbia Gorge, and Columbia Valley (Yakima), drawing on relationships with growers he developed both before and during his years traveling.

In the cellar, Swick uses spontaneous fermentation only, with no inoculated yeasts, no acid corrections, and no temperature control on fermentors. Red wines are fermented with 100% whole clusters, worked by foot once or twice daily, and aged in used French oak barrels ranging from 228 to 600 liters. A small addition of SO2 at bottling is the only intervention made, and only when Joe judges it necessary for stability. No fining or filtering is performed.

Wine region

Oregon / Washington, USA

Swick Wines draws fruit from three distinct Pacific Northwest growing areas: Oregon's Willamette Valley, the Columbia Gorge, and Washington's Columbia Valley, primarily around Yakima. The Willamette Valley, located between Portland and Eugene in northwestern Oregon, is a cool-climate region known for its Jory and Laurelwood soils, with Pinot Noir as its benchmark variety. Joe focuses on higher-elevation Willamette sites, where grapes ripen later, retain higher acidity, and produce lower alcohol.

The Yakima Valley, established as Washington's first AVA in 1983, sits within the larger Columbia Valley AVA in south-central Washington. Protected from Pacific moisture by the Cascade Range rain shadow, the region receives only 7 to 8 inches of precipitation per year. Soils are silt-loam over basalt bedrock, shaped by ancient Missoula Flood deposits. The dramatic diurnal temperature swing during the growing season, with afternoon highs in the 80s dropping to the 50s overnight, allows fuller-bodied varieties like Syrah, Grenache, Malbec, and Mourvedre to ripen fully while retaining natural acidity.
