Description

À L'Horizon is a Riesling from Alsace, France, produced by Du Vin Aux Liens in collaboration with Domaine Albert Hertz. Sourced from 30-year-old vines rooted in Eguisheim's clay-limestone soils, the grapes benefit from an eastern exposure and a continental climate. The biodynamically farmed vineyard, certified by Demeter and Biodyvin since 2007, yields grapes that undergo direct pressing. Fermentation and maturation occur over 12 months in oak barrels, with minimal sulfur addition and no filtration.

Tasting notes

This dry and complex wine reveals aromas of white fruits like peach, pear, and quince, intertwined with citrus zest and acacia flowers. The palate is racy and invigorating, showcasing a tonic minerality that leads to a refreshing finish.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package gets returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee to be determined based on shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive, we are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to re-route a package after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancelling fee – the amount depends on how big the order is. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat/frost-related issues. for heat we offer ice-packs upon request. please let us know should you think that there could be heat-related issues. again, if we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Producer profile

Du Vin Aux Lien

Vanessa Letort began her career in the wine industry in 2014. Initially residing in Tours and working as a regional project companion in the Rochepinard district, her path unexpectedly shifted toward viticulture. This led to the establishment of Du Vin aux Liens. Her first significant exposure to the wine world was through tasting workshops by Patrick at Cav'par 3 de Tours in 2014. Captivated by the flavors and complexities of wines, she embarked on a year-long specialized training in wine marketing at the Lycée Viticole in Amboise.

During her training, she met Philippe Chigard, an influential figure in animal traction, co-vintner at La Table Rouge, and an educator at the high school. Chigard's deep passion for viticulture inspired Vanessa's entrepreneurial spirit and introduced her to prominent vintners in the Loire region. This experience significantly enhanced her knowledge and expertise in organic and natural wine.

Wine region

Alsace, France

Joseph Cattin is a distinguished family-owned winery in Voegtlinshoffen, a village nestled in the foothills of the Vosges Mountains in Alsace, France. With a winemaking heritage dating back to 1720, the Cattin family has cultivated a reputation for producing high-quality wines that reflect the region's unique terroir. The estate spans 65 hectares, with 80% of the vineyards situated on slopes, benefiting from diverse soils such as clay, limestone, sandstone, and marl. This variety contributes to the complexity and character of their wines. The winery is managed by the 12th generation of the Cattin family, who uphold traditional winemaking practices while embracing modern techniques. Their portfolio includes a range of varietals, with a particular focus on Crémant d'Alsace, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris. Notably, their Grand Cru wines, such as the Hatschbourg, are produced using old oak "foudres" to enhance the expression of the terroir. Committed to sustainability, Joseph Cattin practices organic farming across their vineyards, although they are not certified.
