Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Folicello

Il Folicello is a small certified organic and biodynamic estate in Castelfranco Emilia, Province of Modena, run by Marco and Antonella, who founded the winery in the early 1980s. Their starting point was entirely personal — they wanted to produce a wholesome wine to drink and share with family and friends, grown and made without chemical inputs in the Emilian countryside they had chosen as their home. What began as a private project gradually evolved into a small recognized producer, though the founding ethos has not changed across four decades: farming that respects the land and winemaking that does as little as possible to alter what the vineyard provides.

The estate grows indigenous Emilia-Romagna varieties — Pignoletto, Montuni, Trebbiano, Lambrusco Grasparossa, and Malbo Gentile among them — alongside Moscato and Pinot Bianco, all farmed without synthetic chemicals, herbicides, or pesticides. Organic manure from the estate's own free-range livestock fertilizes the vineyards, and the farm produces grains and cereals alongside vines, maintaining the kind of polyculture that was standard across Emilian farms before industrial agriculture took hold. The winery runs entirely on solar-generated electricity.

In the cellar, every wine is fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, without additives, fining, or filtration. The Bianco Pet Nat Limited Edition uses the ancestral method — bottled mid-fermentation to complete its sparkle naturally in bottle — with a two-day maceration to add a degree of texture and aromatic depth. In 2022, the couple's daughter Irene joined the operation, taking responsibility for production management, packaging, and logistics, bringing a new generation into a project that has always been a family endeavor.

Beyond wine, Folicello produces organic grape juice, jams, and vinegar from the estate's harvest — small products that reflect the same commitment to using what the land offers without waste.

Wine region

Emilia–Romagna, Italy

Castelfranco Emilia sits on the flat agricultural plain of Emilia-Romagna, in the Province of Modena, roughly equidistant between Bologna and Modena in the heart of northern Italy's most celebrated food and wine corridor. The town lies along the old Roman road Via Emilia, which gives the region its name and which has connected the cities of the Po plain since antiquity. The surrounding countryside is intensely cultivated — vineyards share the landscape with fields of wheat, orchards, and pastures supporting the livestock that produce Parmigiano-Reggiano and Prosciutto di Modena.

The soils of the Modena plain in this zone are composite: alluvial deposits of clay, silt, and sand laid down over millennia by the rivers descending from the Apennines to the south. These soils are moderately fertile and well-drained, suited to a wide range of varieties and capable of producing wines of genuine freshness when yields are controlled. The climate is continental, warmed by the proximity of the Po valley sun and moderated to some degree by Adriatic breezes that arrive from the east. Summers are warm and dry; winters are cold. The most important viticulturally relevant feature of the local climate is the significant day-to-night temperature differential during the ripening season, which preserves natural acidity and aromatic intensity in white varieties like Pignoletto and Moscato.

Pignoletto — an ancient indigenous white grape, genetically identified as Grechetto Gentile, with references in written records going back to Roman times — is one of the most important white varieties of this part of Emilia-Romagna. It produces wines with characteristic freshness, floral and stone-fruit aromatics, and a light bitter-almond finish, whether made still, frizzante, or in the ancestral pétillant naturel style that producers like Folicello favor. The Province of Modena is also the home of Lambrusco, Italy's most important sparkling red wine tradition, and both varieties benefit from the same climate conditions and farming culture of the Emilian plain.
