De Levend Cortez Orange 2025 is a dry skin-contact wine made from a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Muscat sourced from organically farmed vineyards in Mendocino and Sonoma counties, California. The grapes undergo 12 days of skin maceration before spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Made by Les Lunes winery in the Bay Area, De Levend Cortez Orange 2025 is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and without added sulfites. The 12-day maceration extracts color, tannin, and texture from the skins, while the Muscat contributes aromatic intensity and the Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay provide acidity and structure. Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Returns Policy

Producer profile

De Levende

Les Lunes is the flagship wine label of Diego Roig and Shaunt Oungoulian, two winemakers based in the Bay Area of California who work as true vignerons — farming, managing, and producing all within their own operation. Both are UC Davis graduates in viticulture and enology who trained with leading figures of the French natural wine world before returning to California to make wine on their own terms.

Diego's training included time with Bob Cabral at Williams-Selyem, Vanessa Wong at Peay Vineyards, Didier Barral at Domaine Léon Barral in Faugères, Giusto Occhipinti at COS in Sicily, and Philippe Valette in Mâcon, among others. Shaunt studied natural wine during his time at Davis, then went to France to work with Philippe Valette in Mâcon and Julie Balagny in Fleurie. The two founded Les Lunes and its sister label Populis in 2014, starting as a small négoce and contract farming operation and steadily building toward their current model, which centers on leasing and organically farming over 40 acres of vineyard land across Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino.

The Les Lunes line is built from grapes they farm themselves and represents the more structured, classically minded side of their production — site-specific wines made for aging. Populis draws on a wider network of organic growers across California for fruit-forward, everyday-drinking wines. The cellar operates from the Bay Area, where the team focuses on native yeast fermentations, no additions, and minimal intervention at every stage. Only a small touch of sulfur may be added at bottling if the wine requires it, determined barrel by barrel.

Wine region

California, United States

Mendocino County sits roughly 100 miles north of San Francisco, immediately above Sonoma County along California's North Coast. It is one of the state's most committed organic and biodynamic farming zones — by some estimates, a higher proportion of its vineyard acreage is certified organic than anywhere else in California. The county's terrain is rugged and varied, with the coastal redwood belt giving way to inland valleys, ridgelines, and the complex series of sub-appellations that run along and above the Mendocino coastline and into the warmer interior.

The county's best-known sub-appellation is Anderson Valley, a narrow west-east valley running from the coast inland toward Boonville, famous for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Alsatian varieties that thrive in the cool, fog-influenced maritime climate. Further inland, Redwood Valley and the Ukiah Valley are warmer zones historically associated with Zinfandel, Carignan, and other varieties from old-vine plantings that go back in some cases to the pre-Prohibition era. Ukiah — specifically referenced in prior vintages of Cortez as a source of fruit — sits in the warmer floor of the Ukiah Valley on sandy and alluvial soils with reliable warmth and long growing seasons, producing aromatic white varieties with ripe, generous fruit.

Sonoma County to the south adds another dimension to the Cortez blend's source material: a geographically varied county running from the cool, fog-laced Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley to the warmer Dry Creek Valley and Alexander Valley interior. Organic farming has deep roots in Sonoma too, with many multi-generational growers having transitioned to or maintained sustainable practices over decades.
