Tasting notes

Golden amber with a slight orange tint from skin contact. The nose is aromatic and fresh, offering orange blossom, honeysuckle, citrus peel, almond, and a mineral thread. On the palate, light-to-medium-bodied with lively acidity, gentle texture from the skin contact, stone fruit, and a saline finish.

  • Style: Dry, light-to-medium-bodied skin-contact white; "brisat" is the traditional Catalan term for wines made on the pomace, and this is a relatively light expression of the style — aromatic, textured, and fresh rather than tannic or heavily oxidative; made for easy drinking rather than extended cellaring
  • Grapes & terroir: Parellada, Moscatell, Garnatxa Blanca, and Sumoll Blanc; grapes from three distinct zones of Penedès, from sea level to mountain altitude; coastal soils contribute salinity, inland limestone and clay add structure, and the higher mountain sites provide freshness and floral aromatic lift; all vineyards certified organic
  • Winemaking: Natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts; 5 days skin maceration; 3 months aging in underground concrete tanks; no fining, no filtration; max 30ppm sulfur at bottling only
  • Serving temperature & decanting: Serve at 50–55°F; no decanting needed; works as an aperitivo, through seafood courses, or lightly chilled on its own
  • Pairing: Pa amb tomàquet (Catalan tomato bread)
  • Similar to: Ramato-style Pinot Grigio, light Friulano skin-contact, Txakoli orange

Azimut Brisat Orange 2024 is a skin-contact wine made from a blend of Parellada, Moscatell, Garnatxa Blanca, and Sumoll Blanc sourced from certified organic grower-partners across three zones of Penedès, Catalunya: the coastal Marina del Garraf, the central Conca del Riu Foix, and the mountain Costers del Montmell. Produced by Cellers de Can Suriol, the grapes ferment naturally with indigenous yeasts and spend five days in skin contact before aging three months in underground concrete tanks. Azimut Brisat Orange 2024 is bottled without fining or filtration, with a maximum of 30ppm sulfur. Penedès DO, Spain.

Pa amb tomàquet, Japanese tempura prawns, grilled haloumi, fried chickpeas, miso-glazed aubergine, seafood paella, aged Manchego, white anchovy pintxos.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Returns Policy

Producer profile

Azimut

Cellers de Can Suriol del Castell is a family winery based at the Castell de Grabuac in Font-Rubí, in the Alt Penedès. The Suriol family has farmed this land since the 1600s, operating from a medieval farmhouse originally built in the fifteenth century. The estate is currently run by Assis Suriol, the 17th generation of the family to make wine here, working alongside his father Francis Suriol.

The estate's 30 hectares of vineyards are divided into over 25 distinct micro-parcels across the Alt Penedès, planted primarily to the traditional white varieties of the region: Parellada, Macabeo, and Xarel·lo, alongside Garnacha and Monastrell. Organic certification from the Catalan Council of Ecological Agriculture (CCPAE) has been in place since 1996, and the estate has more recently embraced biodynamic farming practices, including attention to lunar cycles and the cultivation of grasses, herbs, and vegetables between the vine rows to support soil health. Underground concrete tanks — inherited from previous generations — are the cellar's primary vessel for both fermentation and aging, chosen for their thermal stability and the neutrality they lend to the wines.

The winery produces two distinct lines. The Suriol label covers estate-grown, estate-bottled wines including traditional-method Cavas and still wines from their own vineyards. The Azimut line — the name taken from the Arabic term for "the direction" — sources grapes from a network of neighbouring certified organic growers across the Penedès, with the goal of promoting and rewarding organic farming practices in the broader community. The Brisat Orange is part of the Azimut range. Annual production reaches approximately 90,000 bottles under the Suriol label and 120,000 under Azimut.

Wine region

Catalonia, Spain

The Penedès DO lies between Barcelona and Tarragona in the heart of Catalonia, stretching from the Mediterranean coastline inland to the foothills of the Serralada Prelitoral. It is one of Spain's oldest wine regions, with evidence of viticulture dating to the seventh century BC, and one of the most structurally diverse, divided into three main subzones that differ significantly in altitude, climate, and soil type.

The Baix Penedès covers the lower-lying coastal areas, where warmer temperatures suit fuller red varieties. The Penedès Central occupies the inland valley floor around Vilafranca del Penedès and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, the historic capital of Cava production. The Alt Penedès, where Cellers de Can Suriol is based, reaches up to 800 metres elevation around Font-Rubí and the Conca del Riu Foix. At these heights, the temperature differential between day and night is more pronounced, growing seasons are longer, and the native white varieties — particularly Parellada, Xarel·lo, and Macabeo — ripen slowly with higher acidity. Soils across the zone range from calcareous clay to sandy limestone and alluvial formations.

The Azimut Brisat sources grapes from three distinct zones across this landscape: the coastal Marina del Garraf and its saline influence, the central Conca del Riu Foix and its alluvial soils, and the mountain Costers del Montmell with its dramatic topography and cooler conditions. This three-way sourcing is intentional, building aromatic complexity and structural balance from very different growing environments.

Penedès has also become the first wine appellation in the world to require all its certified wines to be produced from organically grown grapes, a mandate that came into effect from the 2025 harvest. The DO is also home to the Clàssic Penedès sparkling wine category, a 100% organic sparkling wine designation that predates the broader organic rule.
