  • Style: Dry, light-to-medium-bodied white, with the clean citrus and herbal freshness typical of central Loire Sauvignon Blanc; the six months on lees in stainless steel add a gentle textural roundness without weight or oak influence
  • Grapes & terroir: 100% Sauvignon Blanc from organically and sustainably farmed vines aged 10 to 60 years on clay-limestone soils in Touraine, central Loire Valley, France; hand-harvested; no synthetic inputs; clay retains moisture through dry periods; limestone contributes mineral tension and natural drainage; the semi-maritime climate of Touraine moderates summer heat and extends the growing season, preserving the grape's natural citrus and herbal aromatics
  • Winemaking: Hand-harvested; gentle pressing; 48-hour cold settling (débourbage); spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts; six months on lees in stainless steel; no oak; lightly filtered; unfined; minimal added sulfites
  • Serving temperature & decanting: Serve well chilled at 46–50°F; no decanting needed; best within 2–3 years of vintage
  • Pairing: Crottin de Chavignol (Loire Valley goat cheese)
  • Similar to: Touraine Sauvignon Blanc from Domaine de la Charmoise, unoaked Sancerre in a lighter style, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough region in a leaner, mineral expression

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Gaspard

Gaspard is a house label created by Jenny Lefcourt under the Jenny & François Selections umbrella, her New York-based natural wine import company, which she co-founded in 2000 with her then-husband François Ecot. Lefcourt grew up in New York and landed in Paris as a Harvard PhD student in French literature and film. Her introduction to natural wine came by chance — a wine shop owner invited her off the street and poured her a cloudy Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley that changed her understanding of what wine could be. Within a few years, she had abandoned academia to import and distribute natural wine in the United States at a time when the category was almost entirely unknown to American drinkers.

Ecot, who grew up near Paris and studied winemaking in Beaune, shared Lefcourt's philosophy: seek out artisan growers who farm organically and intervene as little as possible in the cellar. By 2004, Jenny & François had grown from a side project run out of suitcases brought back from France into a recognized national importer reaching restaurants and shops across New York and beyond.

Gaspard was created as Jenny & François' answer to an accessible everyday Loire wine. The name and the label artwork — designed by Madlen Herrstrom, a Swedish artist based in Paris — were chosen to reflect the character of the project: something small, carefully made, and genuine. Grapes for the Gaspard range are sourced from a trusted network of organic and sustainably farming growers in Touraine, central Loire Valley, with winemaking following the same principles as the rest of the Jenny & François portfolio — indigenous yeasts, minimal additions, no fining, no heavy filtration.

Wine region

Loire Valley, France

Touraine sits at the heart of the Loire Valley in central France, a broad agricultural and viticultural zone centered on the city of Tours, roughly 150 miles southwest of Paris. The region takes its name from the ancient Turones people who inhabited this stretch of the Loire before Roman settlement, and its landscape of gentle hills, river valleys, and limestone cliffs has been shaped by the Loire and its tributaries over millennia. It is one of the Loire's most historically important wine zones, and its gentle, temperate climate earned the broader Loire Valley the French nickname "Garden of France."

The soils of Touraine are complex and varied. Beneath much of the region lies the soft white limestone known as tuffeau, which forms the plateau and hillsides and gives many wines from the area a chalky, stony mineral character. Above the tuffeau sit layers of clay, flint (locally called perruches), sand, and gravel in varying proportions depending on the specific location. The clay-limestone soils from which the Gaspard Sauvignon Blanc is sourced are well-distributed across the Touraine flatlands and hillsides, providing good drainage from the limestone while the clay retains enough moisture to sustain vines through the warm, dry summers.

The climate is semi-maritime: mild winters, warm summers moderated by the river's influence, and generally reliable rainfall spread across the year. Sauvignon Blanc has a long history in Touraine — the Touraine Sauvignon AOC covers the appellation specifically for wines of this variety — and the combination of clay-limestone soils and a relatively cool growing season compared to more southerly French regions produces wines with naturally high acidity, pronounced citrus and herbal aromatics, and a mineral freshness that makes Touraine one of the most reliable regions in France for approachable, food-friendly Sauvignon Blanc.
