Tasting notes

At 11% ABV with no added sulfur, this rosé lands somewhere between a Beaujolais-style red and a dry Provençal rosé — cranberry and underripe strawberry up front, with a minerally, almost citrusy finish that keeps it snappy. The 14-day whole-cluster carbonic approach gives it a juicy, low-tannin texture that disappears fast from the glass.

St. Reginald Parish's The Marigny Pinot Noir Rosé 2019 is a 100% Pinot Noir rosé from the Willamette Valley, Oregon. Fruit is sourced from the Sisu Vineyard, which was one year into organic certification at the time of harvest. The vineyard sits on a mix of marine sediment and volcanic soils, typical of the northern Willamette Valley. At 11% ABV, this is a deliberate, low-alcohol expression built for freshness.

The winemaking follows carbonic principles: whole cluster fruit is pressed directly and fermented to dryness in stainless steel, with no additions at crush. The wine is filtered only to remove large solids and bottled without added sulfur, unfined. Only 75 cases were produced.

On the palate, expect bright cranberry, underripe strawberry, and watermelon with a citrusy mineral edge and lively acidity. Tannins are nearly imperceptible. The low alcohol and carbonic approach push the wine firmly into chillable, drink-now territory.

Andy Young named the label after the Marigny neighborhood in New Orleans, a nod to his Louisiana roots and the live-music culture he carried into winemaking. The winery operates out of McMinnville, Oregon.

Serve well-chilled alongside grilled salmon, a green salad with goat cheese, or charcuterie. The low tannin and bright acidity also make it a natural match for lightly spiced dishes like Vietnamese spring rolls or a simple tomato-based pasta. Drink on its own as an aperitif — it doesn't need food to justify itself.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

St. Reginald Parish

Andrew Reginald Young left a career as a rock drummer in New Orleans in 2012 and relocated to Oregon's Willamette Valley to make low-intervention wine. He launched his first wines under the St. Reginald Parish label around 2015. The winery name combines his middle name, Reginald, with St. Tammany Parish, the neighborhood where he grew up in New Orleans. In 2018, Young split a subset of his more approachable, easy-drinking wines into a separate label called The Marigny, named after the live-music neighborhood in New Orleans's French Quarter. The winery is based in McMinnville, Oregon.

Young sources fruit from cooler, northern and coast-leaning sites in the Willamette Valley. Vineyards are farmed organically, including cover crops of native flowers, edible greens, and root vegetables. For the 2019 Pinot Noir Rosé, fruit came from the Sisu Vineyard, which was one year into organic certification at harvest. Production is intentionally small — Young has described the operation as processable by himself and one other person each fall.

Young's house approach centers on whole-cluster carbonic maceration, native yeast fermentation, and zero additions at crush. Wines are finished dry, moved to stainless for bottling, and released with no fining and minimal or no added sulfur. He picks earlier than most producers in the valley, targeting lower alcohol and higher natural acidity. The 2019 Pinot Noir Rosé used 14 days of whole-bunch carbonic fermentation in stainless steel, with the juice then pressed off and fermented to dryness in a separate tank before bottling without sulfur.

Wine region

Willamette Valley, USA

The Willamette Valley AVA was established in 1983 and spans roughly 150 miles from the Columbia River south to the Calapooya Mountains, running up to 60 miles wide between the Coast Range and the Cascades. It is Oregon's largest AVA and sits near the 45th parallel, giving it a cool, temperate growing season with warm days, cold nights, and most rainfall concentrated in winter months. That dry summer and autumn allows a significant share of producers to farm organically or biodynamically — over 47% of Willamette vineyards carry a sustainable certification.

Soils across the valley divide broadly into three types: volcanic Jory clay loam derived from basalt (dominant in Dundee Hills), ancient marine sedimentary deposits (prominent in Ribbon Ridge and Yamhill-Carlton), and wind-deposited loess called Laurelwood found in the Chehalem Mountains. There are eleven recognized sub-AVAs within the Willamette Valley, including Dundee Hills, Yamhill-Carlton District, Eola-Amity Hills, McMinnville, Ribbon Ridge, and Chehalem Mountains. Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay account for the dominant share of plantings. The cool climate and complex soils consistently produce Pinot Noir with bright acidity, moderate tannin, and pronounced red fruit character.
