Tasting notes

Pale lemon-gold with a clear, bright appearance. The nose is lifted and precise: white peach, apricot, fresh lime, and a developing note of wet stone and slate. The palate is racy and mineral-driven, with bracing acidity, a hint of residual sweetness, and a long, stone-fruit finish.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Maloof Wines

Maloof Wines is a natural wine project run by Ross and Bee Maloof. Their estate vineyard and winery is just outside Forest Grove, Oregon, on the western edge of the Willamette Valley. The two come from markedly different professional backgrounds.

Ross spent over a decade in the Philadelphia restaurant industry, working primarily in beverage-focused front-of-house roles at notable establishments, including Vedge Restaurant Group, before visiting Oregon friends and accidentally ending up working a harvest in the Willamette Valley. That experience changed his professional direction entirely. Bee, by contrast, spent close to a decade as a materials science engineer in the aerospace industry before turning her analytical rigor toward winemaking during the 2016 harvest season. Ross had already produced his first vintage in 2015. After the 2016 harvest, both returned briefly to Philadelphia but relocated permanently to Oregon in 2017.

Maloof Wines has been certified organic since 2020 and is focused on Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Ribolla Gialla, and other aromatic grapes that are underrepresented in the broader Oregon wine landscape. The winemaking is minimal: native yeast fermentation, neutral oak, no fining, no filtration, and low or no sulfur depending on the cuvée. Where ya PJs at? is one of the label's most distinctive wines, blending the textural register of skin-contact Pinot Gris with the high-acid precision of barrel-fermented Riesling.

Wine region

Willamette Valley, United States

The Chehalem Mountains AVA is one of six sub-appellations within the Willamette Valley in northwestern Oregon, encompassing a volcanic ridge that runs roughly east to west across Washington County and Yamhill County, located between Portland to the east and the northern Willamette Valley wine country to the south. Established as an AVA in 2006, the Chehalem Mountains cover approximately 67,000 acres, with around 1,500 acres under vine planted across varying elevations from valley floor sites up to ridge-top vineyards at over 1,000 ft.

Soils in the Chehalem Mountains are notably diverse, falling into three distinct types that often determine which varieties are planted where. Jory, a deep iron-rich volcanic soil derived from ancient basalt flows, dominates the higher elevations and is associated with firm structure and dark fruit character in reds and tight acidity in whites. Willakenzie, a shallower sedimentary soil formed from marine sediments, appears on mid-slope positions and produces wines with a softer, more approachable texture. Laurelwood, the soil type at Nemarniki Vineyard, is a wind-deposited loess over volcanic basalt found primarily in the Laurelwood District within the Chehalem Mountains, at elevations between roughly 600 and 1,000 ft. It is exceptionally well-drained, warming quickly in spring and summer and producing vines with high natural acidity and distinctive mineral character.

In 2021 the Laurelwood District was recognized as Oregon's first official nested AVA within a sub-appellation, sitting inside the Chehalem Mountains AVA. The district covers approximately 2,000 acres and is defined specifically by the presence of Laurelwood series soils. The climate across the Chehalem Mountains is cool and maritime, influenced by gaps in the Coast Range that allow Pacific air to flow into the valley, with the higher elevation sites experiencing more wind, more diurnal temperature shift, and later harvest dates than valley floor vineyards. These conditions are well suited to aromatic white varieties, including Riesling, which retains its characteristic acidity and develops complex aromatic profiles over a long, gradual growing season.
