Tasting notes

The 14-day skin contact on Verdelho delivers apricot and mango aromatics alongside a savory, almond-edged palate that most orange wines don't achieve. The acidity is high and clean, cutting through the textural weight so the wine finishes dry and bright rather than heavy.

Little Faith is a skin-contact Verdelho sourced from the Vista Luna Vineyard in San Joaquin County, California. The vineyard holds CCOF organic certification and is planted on volcanic soils on rolling hills near Lodi. The grapes were hand-harvested, 100% foot-trodden, and fermented dry with 14 days of skin contact before the juice was pressed off and racked to neutral French oak barrels to finish primary fermentation.

After primary fermentation, the wine was aged in neutral French oak for 7 months. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered with a single SO2 addition of 25ppm. The result is a lightly tannic orange wine with genuine texture but no astringency — approachable for drinkers new to skin-contact wines.

On the nose: ripe stone fruit, mango, and apricot. On the palate it shifts to a crispness and savory character, with an almond-marzipan quality that gives way to a wave of acid. The 14-day maceration gives structure without heaviness, and the neutral oak adds nothing beyond slight roundness.

The savory, high-acid profile pairs well with grilled fish, roasted pork with stone fruit, or dishes with a miso or tahini base. The almond-like quality on the palate echoes well with aged cheeses, particularly those with a nutty finish like Gruyere or aged Gouda. Serve well-chilled, around 48-52F.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

End of Nowhere

End of Nowhere is a natural winery based in Amador City, California, operated by owner and winemaker Chris Walsh. Walsh grew up in Amador County, spent roughly 15 years in New York City working as a sommelier and in wine bars, then returned to Pioneer, CA in 2014. He planted the 10-acre Little John Lane Estate Vineyard — surrounding the Walsh family home — with Rhone varieties including Syrah, Grenache, Picpoul, and Clairette Blanche. The land is farmed organically, with dry farming as a long-term goal as the vines establish.

While waiting for his estate vines to reach production age, Walsh sources fruit from organically farmed vineyards across the Sierra Foothills and surrounding appellations. He worked previously at Donkey and Goat, Terre Rouge, with Matthew Rorick, and at Shake Ridge Vineyard, building relationships with like-minded growers. The Vista Luna Vineyard Verdelho used for Little Faith is one such sourced fruit partnership. Walsh ferments exclusively with native yeasts and bottles all wines unfined and unfiltered.

The End of Nowhere tasting room is located at 14204 Main Street in Amador City, California's smallest incorporated city. Walsh produces wines named after songs he connects with — Little Faith takes its name from a track by The National. The winery operates on a minimal-intervention philosophy: no commercial additives, no new oak, low or no added sulfur depending on the wine.

Wine region

California, USA

The Lodi AVA sits in San Joaquin County in California's Central Valley, roughly 90 miles east of San Francisco Bay. Its Mediterranean climate is moderated by the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Breeze, which pushes cool air inland each afternoon and pulls growing season temperatures down into the low 50s Fahrenheit at night. This diurnal swing preserves natural acidity in the grapes despite the warm days. The Lodi AVA was officially recognized in 1986 and was subdivided into seven nested AVAs in 2006.

Soils across Lodi's seven sub-AVAs range from deep sandy loam in Mokelumne River to the San Joaquin Series clay and hardpan prevalent in Jahant, Alta Mesa, and Cosumnes River. The Vista Luna Vineyard, located in San Joaquin County, sits on volcanic soils on rolling hills. Verdelho is among the Portuguese and Iberian varieties that have found a natural home here, as the grape holds acidity well under warm conditions. The Lodi area grows over 100 distinct grape varieties, with a growing presence of Iberian and Rhone-origin grapes alongside Old Vine Zinfandel.
