Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Jean-Yves Péron

Jean-Yves Péron may be the figure most responsible for putting Savoie's white wines on the natural wine world's radar. He grew up in the region, left to study oenology in Bordeaux, then spent formative time with Thierry Allemand in Cornas and Bruno Schueller in Alsace before going further afield to Oregon and New Zealand. He came back to the Alps in 2004 and started making wine from a basement, then gradually accumulated micro-parcels of old-vine Jacquère, Mondeuse, Altesse, Roussanne, and Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains on the steep schist terraces around Conflans and Fréterive, high above Albertville.

What set Péron apart from the beginning was his decision to macerate his whites on skins, inspired by the orange wine traditions he had encountered in northern Italy and later in his travels. He began macerating Jacquère in 2006 and gradually extended the maceration times, reaching weeks and eventually months for certain cuvées. Les Barrieux is his Altesse expression, named for the lieu-dit where the vines grow, and represents his conviction that the variety's firm phenolic structure makes it better suited to extended skin contact than Jacquère, which he regards as more delicate.

The estate now covers approximately 4.5 hectares, supplemented by purchased organic grapes through his négociant activities, which include the I Vicini series from Piedmont and the Les Voisins series from Alsace. Péron moved to a new cellar above Conflans in 2017, giving him the space to work with a wider range of vessels: wood vats, stainless steel, fibreglass, and terracotta amphora. He uses all of them, choosing the vessel by wine rather than by habit. The approach across every wine is the same: native yeasts, whole bunches or partial skin contact depending on the cuvée, no fining, no filtration, and zero added sulfites from harvest to bottle.

Wine region

Savoie, France

Savoie is a mountain wine region in the northern French Alps, covering a fragmented landscape of steep valley sides, glacial lake shores, and elevated terraces across four departments: Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Ain, and Isère. The region sits at the border of France, Switzerland, and Italy, and its wine culture reflects that geographic position: indigenous varieties that exist nowhere else in the world, farming conditions shaped by altitude and Alpine weather, and a winemaking tradition that runs parallel to but distinct from the rest of France.

Altesse is Savoie's most prestigious indigenous white grape, grown primarily on the steep limestone and schist hillsides that rise above the shores of Lake Bourget and the Rhône Valley. It is the only variety permitted in the Roussette de Savoie AOC, where it must represent 100% of the blend, and it also appears under the broader Vin de Savoie AOC with several named crus where Altesse can be specified. The grape produces wines of naturally high acidity, firm structure, and considerable aromatic complexity, ranging from fresh and citrus-driven in youth to nutty, honeyed, and mineral with age. Unlike Jacquère, which is light and delicate, Altesse has a phenolic structure that responds well to skin contact and lees aging, developing a texture and depth that positions it closer to aged white Burgundy or Jura Savagnin than to the more immediately approachable whites of the region.

The Les Barrieux vineyard, where Jean-Yves Péron's Altesse is grown, sits on steep limestone and schist slopes at 1,475 ft elevation, among the higher sites in the Savoie wine zone. Limestone at this altitude produces wines with firm natural acidity and a mineral character that anchors the aromatic complexity developed through skin contact. The combination of old vines, biodynamic farming, and extended maceration transforms the site's natural tension into a wine that genuinely benefits from cellaring.
