Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Little Trouble

Little Trouble Wine Co. is a California-based natural wine project co-founded in 2020 by Jennifer Reichardt and Sara Morgenstern, two industry veterans who met in 2016 while working for a Sonoma Coast producer. Reichardt was the assistant winemaker; Morgenstern was the sales director. After several years of sharing bottles and building a friendship rooted in a mutual love of low-intervention wines, they launched Little Trouble together when Reichardt discovered Stampede Vineyard in Lodi and recognized its potential as a foundation for a new label.

Reichardt brings deep winemaking experience to the partnership. Her family has been in California's food industry since 1901, raising ducks for Bay Area restaurants, and she completed her first harvest in Sonoma County in 2011. Over the following years she worked harvests in the Sonoma Coast, Chile, and Australia before founding her own label, Raft Wines, in 2016. Morgenstern's background spans lab work, wine buying, national sales, and winemaking across California, New York, Florida, and New Zealand, and she continues to work as Director of Operations for Ruth Lewandowski Wines.

The Little Trouble philosophy centers on sourcing organically farmed fruit from distinctive vineyard sites and keeping cellar intervention to a minimum. Native yeast fermentation, neutral vessels, no fining, no filtration, and minimal sulfur are consistent practices across the range. The Champi Vineyard Chardonnay is one of their most personal wines: the two winemakers spent years searching for a single-site Chardonnay that could become a permanent part of the Little Trouble portfolio, and Champi Vineyard at the north end of Redwood Valley is the result. The vineyard is farmed exclusively by Mitch Champi, whose family planted the site in the 1970s.

Wine region

California, United States

Redwood Valley is a small American Viticultural Area in Mendocino County, in Northern California's North Coast wine country. Established as an AVA in 1996, it sits roughly 100 miles north of San Francisco and occupies an upland valley floor approximately 200 ft higher in elevation than the surrounding Ukiah Valley to the south. That elevation, combined with a gap in the coastal ridge to the west, allows cool Pacific air currents to funnel into the valley in a way that does not reach most of Mendocino's other inland appellations. The result is a climate that is measurably cooler than neighboring zones, with a longer growing season and a later harvest date relative to surrounding areas.

The valley's most distinctive feature is its soil. Iron-rich Redvine soil, a rust-colored, well-draining type found in significant concentration here and rarely elsewhere, gives Redwood Valley its strongest claim to viticultural identity. Manzanita soils, another local type, are also present, particularly at higher-elevation sites toward the north end of the valley where Champi Vineyard sits. Together these soils produce vines with deep root systems and low vigor, resulting in grapes with concentrated flavors and firm natural acidity.

Redwood Valley was the first area in Mendocino County to see commercial viticulture, planted by Italian immigrants in the mid-19th century. Those early settlers recognized the combination of climate and soil as ideal for wine grapes, and the valley retains that agricultural heritage today in vineyards like Champi, which has been in continuous family ownership since the 1970s. While the valley is best known historically for Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and old-vine red varieties, Chardonnay grown on its cooler northern sites produces wines with a tighter, more structured profile than is typical of warmer California appellations.
