Producer profile

Maison Crochet

Maison Crochet is a family-operated winery situated in the small village of Bulligny in Lorraine, roughly 30 kilometers southwest of Nancy, near Toul. The winery, managed by Lionel Crochet and Sandra Laval since 1991, oversees a 5-hectare vineyard. This vineyard has undergone a transformation towards organic farming, with white grapes being organically grown since 2017 and the entire vineyard converting to organic practices in 2019.

Maison Crochet produces a diverse range of wines, predominantly focusing on sparkling wines created through traditional methods. The vineyard grows four main types of grapes: Gamay, Pinot Noir, Auxerrois, and Chardonnay. Gamay grapes, occupying the largest share of their vineyard, are essential for their Cuvée Crochet and grey wine production. Pinot Noir, known for its red fruit aromas, is used both for traditional method sparkling wines and red wines. Auxerrois and Chardonnay are also vinified in both quiet and effervescent styles.

Independence is a key philosophy for Maison Crochet. They choose to release their wines under the Vin de France denomination, freeing them from the strict regulations of appellations. This approach allows them to set their own rules and focus on crafting the best wines possible, reflecting the unique terroir of Bulligny.

In addition to winemaking, Maison Crochet also offers guesthouse accommodations, providing a unique experience for visitors to stay at the heart of the Lorraine wine region.
