Established as an organic winery in 2014, La Mongestine practices biodynamic viticulture, focusing on grape varieties such as Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Vermentino, and Grenache Blanc.

The winery produces wines using spontaneous fermentation and low-intervention methods. Their wine lineup includes blends like Bob Singlar Rouge, which combines Marselan, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Roussanne, and Les Monges Rouge, featuring Grenache and Syrah. These wines are known for their expressive and aromatic profiles, reflecting the unique terroir and microclimate of the region.

Wine region

Provence, France

The Provence wine region in southeastern France is celebrated for its rosé wines, constituting approximately 90% of its production. Provence stretches along the Mediterranean coast, from the Rhône River in the west to the Côte d'Azur in the east. The region's wine history dates back over 2,600 years, making it the oldest wine-producing area in France.

1. Côtes de Provence: The largest and most prominent appellation, covering around 20,000 hectares. It produces mainly rosé wines from Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault, with some red and white wines.

2. Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence: The second-largest appellation, influenced by the Mistral winds. Known for its rosés, it also produces reds and whites from grapes like Grenache, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

3. Coteaux Varois en Provence: Located in the heart of Provence, this region has cooler, higher-altitude vineyards that produce wines with good acidity and complex flavors. The primary grapes are Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault.

4. Bandol: Famous for its robust reds primarily made from Mourvèdre, Bandol also produces exceptional rosé and white wines. The vineyards here benefit from the area's well-drained limestone soils and warm climate.

5. Cassis: Known for its white wines from Marsanne and Clairette, this coastal region offers elegant citrus and herbal notes.

Provence's diverse terroir, ranging from coastal areas to inland hills, contributes to the distinctiveness of its wines. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, sunny days and cool nights, coupled with varied soils, allows for a range of wine styles. The region is also known for its commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture, particularly in areas like Les Baux de Provence.
