Julien Altaber, born into a farming family in Auvergne, has been closely connected to the land from a young age. His first encounter with winemaking was at 16 during a wine harvest, sparking a lifelong passion. Julien honed his skills through internships in Mâconnais and Beaujolais wineries before joining forces with Catherine and Dominique Derain, where he delved into organic and biodynamic winemaking techniques.

In 2007, Julien ventured into his project, Domaine Sextant, thanks to the support and equipment provided by the Derains. He now operates a winery and cellar in St. Aubin and manages half a hectare of his vineyards. Additionally, he continues to produce wine for Domaine Derain, maintaining a consistent, natural, and innovative style.

Julien's approach to winemaking is marked by deep passion and enthusiasm. He has become a key figure in the natural wine scene in his region, known for his adventurous and unique approach to viticulture and vinification.

His wines genuinely reflect his character – full of life and surprise. Julien embraces experimentation with macerations and infusions, creating a diverse range of products from his domain. His portfolio includes everything from an exemplary Pinot Noir and a classic Chardonnay to wines that offer a distinctive interpretation of their origin, sometimes seeming otherworldly yet always grounded in their terroir. Julien's wines are as much an adventure for the palate as they are a testament to his skill and passion for winemaking.
