Taurasi Rosso and Taurasi Rosso Riserva are two Aglianico-based red wines from Campania Region, in Southern Italy. Due to their DOCG status, established in 1993, they can only be produced within the Province of Avellino following strict rules as far as maximum yield and winemaking methods.
Taurasi is a full-bodied wine with good structure and smooth tannins – this is due in part to the relatively long aging period (3 years in total, minimum 12 months in wood barrels). One of the big red wines of Southern Italy, it is best appreciated paired with Campania’s hearty cuisine.
