Tasting notes

Deep ruby-purple with a vivid, youthful color. The nose is fresh and aromatic, with black cherry, wild blueberry, ripe plum, dried herbs, and a light peppery note. On the palate, juicy and medium-bodied, with soft tannins, bright acidity, dark fruit, a touch of herby spice, and a clean finish.

BodyFruitTanninAcidity
  • Style: Dry, light-to-medium-bodied red built for fresh, immediate drinking; the partial carbonic maceration preserves bright red and dark fruit aromatics and keeps the tannins soft and approachable rather than extracted; at 12% ABV it sits on the lighter end for Malbec; the name "Tu Vin Plus Aux Soirées" translates roughly as "you won't go to parties anymore"
  • Grapes & terroir: 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Franc from biodynamically farmed vines averaging 25 years old on a 2-hectare parcel; limestone Causse soils at 1,150 ft elevation; Trespoux-Rassiels, on the highest slopes of the Cahors appellation, Lot department, Southwest France; Demeter-certified biodynamic since 2011; no synthetic inputs of any kind
  • Winemaking: Hand-harvested; partial carbonic maceration; fermented in old oak or cement; indigenous yeasts only; no oenological additions; unfined, unfiltered; less than 30 ppm total SO2; released as Vin de France rather than AOC Cahors
  • Serving temperature & decanting: Serve lightly chilled at 55–58°F; no decanting needed
  • Pairing: Confit de canard (classic Southwest French duck confit)
  • Similar to: Gamay from Beaujolais in carbonic freshness, Cot from Touraine in its lighter Malbec style, Poulsard from the Jura

Mas del Perié Tu Vin Plus Aux Soirées NV is a dry red wine made from 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Franc grown on biodynamically farmed limestone soils at approximately 1,150 feet elevation in Trespoux-Rassiels, on the highest slopes of the Cahors appellation in Southwest France. Mas del Perié Tu Vin Plus Aux Soirées NV is bottled unfined and unfiltered with less than 30 ppm SO2. 12% ABV. Vin de France.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Fabien Jouves

Mas del Périé was founded in 2006 by Fabien Jouves in Trespoux-Rassiels, on the highest slopes of the Cahors appellation. Jouves comes from an old farming family on the Causse plateau, and returned to winemaking after completing his training in Bordeaux — a deliberate choice to learn the technical side of the craft before applying it on his own terms. He took over the family estate, converted it to biodynamic viticulture, received Demeter certification in 2011, and built a range of wines that has since attracted significant international attention.

The name Mas del Périé translates as "house of stones" in the local Occitan dialect — a direct reference to the limestone that defines both the landscape and the wines. The estate spans approximately 23 to 27 hectares across the Causse plateau and surrounding slopes, planted primarily with Malbec alongside smaller plots of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Chenin Blanc, and other varieties. All viticulture is biodynamic: no synthetic chemicals, no herbicides, and all activities timed to the lunar calendar. Fabien also trained with and was influenced by natural wine producers in Burgundy, an inspiration visible in his choice to bottle his terroir wines in Burgundy bottles rather than the Bordeaux-shaped bottles conventional in Southwest France.

His wines divide into two ranges. The "Terroir" wines are serious, vineyard-specific Malbec bottlings released under the AOC Cahors designation. The "Vins de Soif" — of which Tu Vin Plus Aux Soirées is the flagship — are lighter, playfully labeled wines released as Vin de France, built for immediate drinking and designed to show that Malbec can be fresh, fruity, and low in alcohol rather than heavy and extracted. In the cellar, no oenological additives are used across either range: indigenous yeasts, minimal sulfites, no fining, no filtration.

Wine region

Cahors, France

Cahors sits in the Lot department of Southwest France, roughly 100 miles east of Bordeaux, in a landscape shaped by the serpentine meanders of the Lot River cutting through limestone plateaus. The town of Cahors is actually built on a peninsula formed by one of the river's tightest bends, and the surrounding terrain divides into two distinct viticulture zones: the river valley with its alluvial terraces, and the elevated limestone plateau called the Causse.

The Causse, where Mas del Perié farms its vines at around 1,150 feet above sea level, is the older, harder terrain of the two. Formed from compacted Jurassic and Cretaceous limestone, the plateau is thin-soiled, well-drained, and subject to wider day-to-night temperature swings than the warmer valley floor. This altitude and diurnal variation slows ripening, preserves natural acidity, and produces a leaner, more mineral style of Malbec than the more generously fruited valley wines. It is from this elevated plateau that Fabien Jouves makes all of his wines.

Cahors has some of the oldest documented winemaking in France, predating the Roman occupation. Medieval "black wine of Cahors" — named for Malbec's inky color — was exported through the Lot and Garonne rivers to Bordeaux and beyond, used by the English and celebrated by the Russian Orthodox Church. The devastating frost of 1956 wiped out nearly all the region's vineyards, requiring wholesale replanting, and the AOC designation followed in 1971. AOC Cahors rules require a minimum of 70% Malbec (locally known as Côt or Auxerrois), with Merlot and Tannat permitted to complete the blend. Mas del Perié's Tu Vin Plus Aux Soirées is classified as Vin de France rather than AOC Cahors, as the partial carbonic maceration technique and Cabernet Franc percentage fall outside the appellation's parameters.
