Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package is returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee, to be determined based on the shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive. We are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to reroute a package after it's been shipped, we can do so for a $20 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancellation fee – the amount depends on the size of the order. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat/Frost damage

We are not responsible for heat- or frost-related issues. We offer ice-packs upon request. Please let us know if you think that there could be heat-related issues. If we don't hear anything from you regarding weather issues before an order is shipped, or if you don't request a hold due to the weather, we are not responsible for heat/frost damage.

Placed an order. What next?

1. You will receive an order confirmation email with your order summary.*

2. As soon as your order ships from the warehouse, usually within 2-3 business days, this applies to all shipping rates, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking information. 2DAY shipping refers to shipping time; we still need 2-3 business days to prepare an order. We need to pick and pack, QA, add printed collateral, and palletize the orders.

3. Please track your package using the tracking service.

4. The carrier will attempt delivery a maximum of 3 times. After 3 delivery attempts, your package will be sent back to our warehouse.**

*Please ensure your email address is correct; otherwise, you will not receive the order and shipping confirmation emails.

**If delivery is attempted 3 times without success, or if you fail to retrieve your package from the carrier depot by the stated deadline, the shipping fee will not be refunded to the customer.

Producer profile

Fres.co

Fres.co, or Fresh Wine Co., is a natural wine project founded by Jack Sporer, a Sonoma County winemaker who trained in conventional large-scale production before transitioning to low-intervention, regeneratively focused winemaking. He produces his wines at Magnolia Wine Services, a collective custom crush facility in Sonoma that houses a group of natural winemakers, allowing small producers to share infrastructure while maintaining independent practices. Sporer is described by peers as a central figure in Sonoma's emerging natural wine community, consistently cited by other producers in the valley as a reference point for craft, sound advice, and collaborative spirit.

The Fres.co model is built on two principles that reinforce each other. The first is a commitment to working exclusively with vineyards farmed without synthetic pesticides or herbicides, and preferably with additional regenerative practices such as no-till cultivation, dry farming, cover cropping, and in some cases rotational sheep grazing. Fres.co shares the financial risk of organic and regenerative transitions with growers, making the shift more accessible for small family vineyards that might not otherwise be able to absorb the costs of conversion without a guaranteed buyer.

The second principle is minimal intervention in the cellar. All Fres.co wines are fermented with native ambient yeasts, without commercial fermentation aids, and are bottled without fining agents or filtration. Cold stabilization is not used. Sulfur is added only at bottling and in modest amounts, typically 20-40 ppm, though some cuvées such as the Fire Fuego are bottled with zero additions.

Sporer's winemaking reference point is old California: restrained, site-expressive wines that are approachable young but have the structure to age. The Chillable Primitivo reflects this approach directly, using mid-fermentation pressing and neutral oak aging to produce a lighter-extraction style from a variety that can easily tip into heaviness if harvested too ripe or fermented to full phenolic extraction. Fres.co has also collaborated with Primal Wine on a limited skin-contact bottling sourced from Clarksburg, California.

Wine region

California, United States

Sonoma Valley is one of California's most historically established wine appellations, running roughly 17 miles from the town of Sonoma in the south to Santa Rosa in the north, flanked by the Mayacamas Mountains to the east and the Sonoma Mountains to the west. Designated as California's second AVA in 1981, the valley has a longer winemaking tradition than almost any other region in the state, with commercial grape growing dating to the mid-19th century. The founding generation of California's fine wine industry, including the pioneers of Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, established many of the valley's most important vineyard sites.

Kenwood, where Benguerel Family Vineyard is located, sits at the northern end of Sonoma Valley, where the valley narrows between the Mayacamas and Sonoma Mountain ridges. The town sits at approximately 320 ft above sea level, slightly elevated compared to the broader valley floor, with surrounding benchland vineyards at variable altitudes. This northern position benefits from additional moderation from marine air that funnels through the valley, providing slightly cooler conditions than the warmer, more protected southern end of the appellation near the town of Sonoma.

Los Robles series soils, the type found at Benguerel Family Vineyard, are gravelly clay loam with mixed volcanic and alluvial origin, providing good drainage alongside enough clay content to retain some moisture during the dry summer months. These soils are well suited to dry-farmed viticulture, where deep-rooted vines access subsoil water without irrigation. Own-rooted vines, meaning vines not grafted onto American rootstock, are increasingly rare in California, having survived phylloxera on naturally resistant or sandy soils, and are associated with lower yields and more concentrated, complex fruit. Primitivo, genetically identical to Zinfandel, is one of several Italian varieties that has performed well in Sonoma Valley's warm Mediterranean-influenced climate, producing darker, spicier, more structured wines than those typical of its southern Italian home region of Puglia.
