Product Description

The Wine: Vinho Rubro 2022

Márcio Lopes Vinho Rubro is a red natural wine made from a blend of Vinho Verde native red grape varieties. Organic farming, low intervention in the cellar. Refreshing and zippy, this is a great wine to be drunk chilled.

The Producer: Márcio Lopes

Márcio Lopes, initially an engineer, honed his winemaking skills with Vinho Verde expert Anselmo Mendes in Melgaço and furthered his experience in Australia. Returning to Portugal in 2010, he launched Pequeños Rebentos in Vinho Verde and began vinifying the Loureiro varietal in 2016. Lopes champions low-intervention winemaking, emphasizing natural yeasts and the quality of fruit. His wines, reflecting this philosophy, are notably fresh, vibrant, and true to their terroir.

The Region: Vinho Verde

Vinho Verde, located in northwest Portugal, is renowned for its youthful, fresh wines influenced by the Atlantic Ocean's maritime climate. While the region's white wines, made from varietals like Alvarinho and Loureiro, are celebrated for their effervescence and aromatic profiles, its history-rich viticulture also produces reds and rosés. Modern winemakers are blending tradition with innovation, increasingly exploring natural wine and organic wine practices. This evolution showcases Vinho Verde's commitment to authenticity and the region's diverse terroir.

The red wines of Vinho Verde, much, much lesser-known than their white counterparts, are also great. Made from the Vinhão grape, these red wines are deep-hued, with a vibrant ruby color. On the palate, they are characterized by red fruit flavors, a touch of earthiness, and a rustic edge. The wines retain the signature freshness of the region. While traditionally consumed young and locally, there's a growing interest in these reds, especially among enthusiasts seeking organic and natural wine expressions. Their unique profile offers a different, more intense taste of the Vinho Verde region, proving its versatility and depth in winemaking.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping Policy

Stress-Free Shipping

At Primal Wine, we like to be transparent about everything we do. When it comes to buying products online, shipping is the most important aspect, and that’s why we take great care in shipping and handling your order using only 100% recycled packaging material.

Important Compliance Requirements

FedEx and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older. Someone must be at the address to receive the package, carriers don't just drop a package and leave. They must ensure the person receiving the wine is 21 or older.

Re-shipping a Package

If a package gets returned to us after three failed delivery attempts, we can only re-ship the wine upon payment of a re-shipping fee to be determined based on shipping address and number of bottles. Shipping wine is extremely expensive, we are sorry about this, but we have no other choice. Please make sure there's always someone at the address you enter as your shipping address.

If you'd like to receive a refund for a package that was returned to us after FedEx made three delivery attempts, we can do that but we must keep a $20 refund fee; FedEx charges us a lot of money for returns, unfortunately, I can't stress this enough.

Re-routing a Package

If you'd like to re-route a package after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a $25 re-routing fee. We cannot re-route a package across state borders. For any change of address, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 1-2 days from placing the order or we cannot guarantee we'll be able to reroute or change your order's shipping address.

Canceling an Order

If you'd like to cancel an order after it's been shipped, we can do so upon payment of a small cancelling fee – the amount depends on how big the order is. Carriers charge us a lot of money to recall a package en-route.

Heat damage

WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR HEAT-RELATED ISSUES. WE OFFER ICE-PACKS AS ONE OF OUR SHIPPING OPTIONS. PLEASE SELECT THAT OPTION SHOULD YOU THINK THAT THERE COULD BE HEAT-RELATED ISSUES.
