The blend is Muscat and Flora, both macerated on the skins for 10 days. Muscat comes from Acampo, in the northern San Joaquin Valley. Flora comes from Tom Rodrigues at Maple Creek Winery in the Yorkville Highlands AVA of southern Mendocino County.

Flora is a rare UC Davis cross developed in 1938 by Dr. Harold Olmo, using Semillon and Gewurztraminer as parents. It was bred to produce aromatic wines with lower acidity than other coastal California whites. In skin-contact form, it brings a slightly oily texture and structural backbone to the blend, while the Muscat drives the perfume. The producer describes the effect as Georgian amber wine on a beach day.

Artemis Botanical began as a project to make fortified and aromatized wines under an organic, hands-off approach. It has since expanded to include table wines, piquette, grappa, and amaro, all made with organically grown fruit, native yeast fermentation, and no additions including sulfur. Fruit is sourced from sites across northern California.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0019/3363/9735/products/artemis-botanical-take-it-easy-but-take-it-natural-wine-primal-wine.jpg?v=1780185687
