The vines sit on stony, calcareous clay soils at around 400 meters above sea level. Grapes are harvested simultaneously, destemmed, crushed, and macerated together for 24 hours, then only the free-run juice is used for fermentation.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFermentation proceeds with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine ages for six months on the fine lees before bottling. No fining or filtration. A minimal addition of sulfites (around 10ppm) is made at bottling. The name Abrunet means swallow in Catalan — the birds that appear on the label and on the hillsides around Corbera d'Ebre.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn the nose: red fruit, orange peel, green almond, and a hint of fennel. The palate is dry, light-bodied, and bright, with juicy acidity and a faintly saline finish.
