jaime-gamay-magnum-beysang-dreyer-natural-wine
J'Aime Magnum 2019

J'Aime is a magnum-only wine made from a cross-regional exchange between two friends: Raphael Beysang of Lapins des Vignes in Saint-Germain-Nuelles, southern Beaujolais, and Jean-Marc Dreyer of Rosheim in Bas-Rhin, Alsace. Beysang contributes young-vine Gamay that undergoes a 2-day maceration, which is then pressed directly into a field blend of Alsatian white varieties from Dreyer — including Auxerrois, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc among others. The two producers meet halfway between their estates, in Burgundy, to exchange grapes. Only 60 magnums of this 2019 vintage were imported into the United States.

The result is a light red sitting at the boundary between red and white: pale in color, with low tannins, bright acidity, and a texture shaped by the skin-contact whites. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered, with no added sulfites. The wine is classified Vin de France, as the blend crosses two distinct regions.

Both producers farm without synthetic chemistry. Beysang manages approximately 7 hectares biodynamically in the Pierres Dorées (golden stone) zone of southern Beaujolais, where soils shift between clay-limestone, granite, and alluvial deposits. Dreyer's 6-hectare estate in Rosheim spans 25 parcels on clay-limestone soils and has been certified biodynamic since 2003. Neither producer adds sulfur to finished wines.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0019/3363/9735/products/beysang-jm-france-natural-wine-primal-wine.jpg?v=1780186848
