Why You Should Try It

The Wine: Miranius Xarel-lo 2018

Recaredo & Celler Credo Miranius Xarel-lo is a white natural wine made from 100% Xarel-lo grapes farmed organically in Penedes, Catalonia, Spain. The grapes grow on limestone soils. This wine is made naturally without any addition – spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel, unfiltered, unfined, minimal sulfites.

The Producer: Recaredo & Celler Credo

Three generations of the Recaredo family (1924) keeping the essence of purity and natural farming. Two projects to show here at Raw. Recaredo and Celler Credo.

At Recaredo we produce long-aging (from 3 to more than 14 years on the lees) pas-dosé and only vintage sparklings wines. All Biodynamic Estate grown fruit from our vineyards in Alt Penedes. Using only historic-local grapes Xarel.lo, Macabeu, Parellada, Monastrell, and Garnatxa. We only age our sparkling wines with natural cork, riddling and disgorging the entire production all by hand, the latter without freezing the neck of the bottle.

Celler Credo is our still white wine project, producing only single-vineyards and mono-varietals wines only with Xarel-lo, Parellada, and Macabeu. Vineyards at 600+ meters down to 200m from in Alt Penedes Region and some of its subzones. The wines are produced following traditional style with some stems and skin contact, spontaneous fermentation and sometimes using old traditional clay vessels.

The Region: Penedès

Penedès is a sub-region located west of Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain. Penedès is Catalunya’s most important wine district and carries the status of DO, Denominación de Origen. The region is famous worldwide for its main product: the excellent Cava sparkling wine – made with the Champenoise method.

The Terroir of Penedès

Penedès has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and hot summers. The three subregions in which it can be divided, Baix Penedès, Medio Penedès, and Alt Penedès (where Azimut is located) – respectively low, middle, high Penedès, - have slightly different climates due primarily to altitude and distance from the coast. Soils range from calcareous, the prevalent formation, to sandy and clayey.

The Red Wines of Penedès

Red wines are usually blends of native varietals such as Tempranillo, Penedès main red grape varietal, Garnacha (Garnatxa), Monastrell, and Carinena. In recent years, a handful of producers have been experimenting with international varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with good results.

The White Wines of Penedès

White still wines, in other words, non-Cava white wines, are made from the same native varietals used for Catalunya’s flagship sparkler, Xarel-lo, Macabeo, and Parellada. Only recently Chardonnay has been used both in Cava blends and as a still wine, a trend that’s gaining popularity.

Shipping & Returns

Stress Free Shipping

At Primal Wine we like to be transparent about everything we do. When it comes to buying products online, shipping is the most important aspect, and that’s why we take great care in shipping and handling your order using only 100% recycled packaging material.

Important Compliance Requirements

UPS and other carriers we might occasionally use can only deliver wine to customers who are 21 years or older.

Important COVID Update

UPS and FedEx declared that in order to protect their workers and customers, they no longer require a signature on delivery. This does not mean they will drop a wine box at your door. UPS delivery workers will make sure the person receiving the wine is 21 years or older, and will ask for his/her name - only then do they deliver the package.

Shipping Rates and Options

An important premise: wine bottles are heavy – about 3 pounds each – and shipping is expensive! Primal Wine is not backed by venture capital money – we proudly are a mom and pop independent online store – and we must charge shipping on all orders, otherwise we wouldn’t be in business. However, we try our best to offer you very competitive shipping rates.

Return Policy

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please contact us at (424) 414-2040 or via e-mail at hello@primalwine.com between 9 am and 5 pm Pacific Standard Time, Monday through Sunday, we would like to understand and try to solve your concerns.

We may make arrangements for a return and refund if appropriate, and only after we receive unopened products back to our warehouse.
